New inert gas filling installation in Den Helder

Since September, Kenbri Fire Fighting has had a new inert gas filling installation at its disposal at the Den Helder location. This allows customers in the maritime, offshore and (petro)chemical sectors as well owners of data centres and server rooms to make use of a new Kenbri service: (re)filling inert gas cylinders. The new inert gas filling installation has been in use successfully for a few weeks, and is a magnificent addition to the extensive service of Kenbri Fire Fighting.

Fire suppression with inert gas

In some cases, fire extinguishing with water or foam is not a suitable option. When the extinguishing agent could cause extra damage, for example, or during an electric fire. In these situations, inert gas offers the ideal solution. Just like other fire extinguishing systems, it is important that an inert gas fire suppression installation meets all safety requirements. This means, among other things, that an inert gas fire suppression system should be fully checked every year. Moreover, the inert gas cylinders should be subjected to pressure testing once per 10 years and after use.

Refilling inert gas cylinders

During the decennial inspections, the cylinders are emptied and refilled. They are also subjected to pressure testing. If everything is in order, the cylinder is recertified. If a cylinder is used within that ten-year period, it will once more need to be inspected and refilled. Kenbri Fire Fighting is proud to be able to service its customers through its own inert gas filling installation.

How does it work?

The inert gas filling installation can fill cylinders with the following inert gases, among others: Novec, FM200, FE36 and CO2. We can also provide other inert gases. The cylinders arrive at the Den Helder location, are filled, tested and certified there, and are then returned to the customer. Generally, customers have a backup cylinder. Of course, our goal is to return the (re)filled cylinders to the inert gas fire suppression system as quickly as possible. Therefore, the cylinders are filled, inspected and returned to their location quickly. That way, your inert gas fire suppression system will be safe for use again in no time.
